Correspondence
Had a discussion on Tournaments.
St. Mary’s will have their regular tournament in October. This may be difficult but no C teams allowed to register with OWHA.
Re-categorization isn’t until October 1, 2011. St. Mary’s hosts C teams.
Mitchell has a B tournament.
Sault Ste Marie in November.
Geoff also asked the members if they had new websites they wanted added to WOGHL or any new information to please email him.
Treasurer’s Report
It was asked to select a committee to handle the banners, medals and trophies. Only four on executive so we need some volunteers to help with this. We lost money this year. We had more banners this year because of more teams and more divisions. Medals – we paid a premium on these. Company did not treat WOGHL very well with this and we paid top dollar. Next year need to get three quotes and then decide which company to go with.
Player All Star jerseys. Still have some outstanding fees that need to be paid. It is hard to collect money from parents/players day of All Star Game without volunteers. Next year we will request the associations to pay for the jerseys/socks prior to the day so that all payments are complete and we don’t have to collect any money that day. Also talked about whether to have a gate or not and to better educate the associations, coaches and managers about the payment of player jerseys, gate at All Star Game. It was discussed about possibly having a 50/50 draw instead of gate.
We would also like an All Star Committee to take over this event. This committee could assist executive with the event.
Fines
The fines are stated in the constitution. We have not be able to adjust these fines because we haven’t had a quorum at the two recent meetings. Fines have not been adjusted at all. Need to decide fine increases and when to send them out. No fines were sent out this year for late games, late rescheduling of games, not attending meetings and they should have been. We need to set fines and put them in place so associations/teams will stay in WOGHL and this league will be the same as others (LLFHL).

Website - We need to find someone to take it over, Geoff put out an email but no responses so far. Prior to last year Geoff put in all game schedules for each division, all changes, scores, etc and we were able to put fines into place. Last year Pierre Marceau took on the responsibility and had coaches/managers enter their scores. All teams liked this. It was hard to tell if games were entered late so therefore no fines sent out. We have not heard from Pierre Marceau yet to find out if he will continue to do this job.
New Committees - We would like to see a discipline committee in place. We need to be ready if we get an appeal against us. We also need to deal with penalties that OWHA gives out to our teams, we can give out more if we feel it beneficial. Also need to be able to deal with players/parents if more than one offence.
Also talked again about All Star Committee and possibly a committee to look at the constitution and come back to executive with changes before the AGM next year.
Geoff will put something on the website asking for volunteers for these committees.
Bruce Reed spoke about a gentleman/company who will run tournaments. We need to get his name and look into this for the All Star day next year.
Also talked again about fines for late scores, rescheduling of games on time, late game scores and penalties and that we will set up another meeting in August and increases of fines will be discussed. An agenda will be made and put on the website. Next meeting for AGM will be set for Thursday, August 25, 2011. Geoff to book room and notify all associations and put on website.
Each association as well as team’s coach/manager must have the most up to date information on the website when scheduling meeting is complete. We need a cell phone number to be able to contact the other team of a game cancellation due to weather conditions. Each team must be able to get ahold of a coach/manager from the opposing team before each game if problems arise.
Constitution, Rules and Regulations - If any association or WOGHL representative has any changes they want to see discussed, please email Geoff so he can get them all prepared for next AGM.
It was decided by executive and members present that fines will be handed out to associations that did not make it to either June 25th or July 21st Meeting. Each association must send their WOGHL rep or another representative to each meeting. Jeff and Denise will look after sending out the fines of $25.00 for not attending these meetings.
Pre-Season Exhibition Games - It will be hard for teams to get exhibition games in prior to September 25 as some centres don’t have ice until then or after. We would like to see games played before September 27, 2011 so the executive can take a look at them and be set with loops before September 29 scheduling meeting. We are asking that all teams try and play a few exhibition games before scheduling meeting.
Suggestion – All teams be ready to start 2011-12 Regular Season September 30th and play until November 26th. Possible one home and one away for all teams or decide within loop in only play 1 game against teams depending on ice availability and number of teams in each Division. One week in between first and second split for executive to take a look at all games and decide loops for second half. Second half to start December 4th until February 4th and then Playoffs.
A discussion was held about the “B” teams because OWHA making all rep teams start a B. Will teams be B or truly BB and registered a B or will teams be true C teams but registered as B because of new rule with OWHA. We will have to really watch this and see if teams can play the exhibition games before scheduling meeting so we know the true caliber of each team. We need to make sure all teams register correctly in WOGHL, need to watch the teams that don’t register properly each and every year and look into that.
We also had a discussion about releases and how all associations were told they were allowed to withhold a release especially if a player is leaving their association to play the same level of play for another Associations. OWHA will allow the releases and this needs to be addressed with OWHA.
Fees - We would like to set a new league fee of $80.00 rather than $60.00 for all teams entering WOGHL this year. This will be deferred to August Meeting.
Before next meeting of the AGM, we need to let all associations know that we will start to enforce fines for no attendance at Meetings and that we will be discussing the increase of fines. Geoff will put next Meeting on website with Agenda of what will be discussed.
